Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Miser Magister (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and apps at misermagister.com (the “Service”).
Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we store a username and email address (or, for student accounts, a username at students.misermagister.com). Authentication is handled by Supabase.
- Payment information. If you purchase a premium membership, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number — Stripe handles all card data. We receive only confirmation that a payment succeeded and a reference to your account.
- Usage data. Basic technical data (such as pages visited and errors) may be logged by our hosting and backend providers to keep the Service running.
- AI features (bring-your-own-key). Some features let you connect your own account with a third-party AI provider using your own API key. This is an arrangement directly between you and that provider; Miser Magister does not provide, host, or resell AI, and it is not part of any paid plan. Your key, your prompts, and the AI’s responses are sent directly from your browser to the AI provider and are never transmitted to, seen by, or stored on our servers. Your use of the AI provider is governed by that provider’s own terms and privacy policy, not this one.
How we use information
- To provide and maintain the Service and your account.
- To process premium memberships and apply your access level.
- To communicate with you about your account or the Service.
- To keep the Service secure and to comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of third-party processors, each with its own privacy policy:
- Supabase — accounts, authentication, and database.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — website hosting and email delivery.
- Google — optional “Sign in with Google” login.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser’s local storage and cookies for essential functions such as keeping you signed in and remembering your theme preference. These are not used for third-party advertising.
Age requirement & children’s privacy
Miser Magister is intended for users who are at least 13 years old. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not permit children under 13 to register or use the Service.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has registered, please contact us at misermagister@gmail.com and we will remove the account.
School use (FERPA). Where a teacher or school uses Miser Magister with their students, student accounts can be created with a username only (in the form username@students.misermagister.com), without a real email address. We handle any student information solely to provide the educational Service, acting as a “school official” with a legitimate educational interest under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) where applicable. We do not use student information for targeted or behavioral advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not build profiles of students for any non-educational purpose.
Data retention and your rights
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at the email below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date above when we do.
