Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 3, 2026

This policy explains what information Miser Magister (“we,” “us”) collects when you use misermagister.com and its apps (the “Service”), and what we do with it. We do not sell personal information, show ads, or track you on other sites.

Accounts

Many apps work without an account. Signing in lets you save progress and join a class. There are two kinds of account:

• Email or Google. You sign up with an email address and password, or with “Sign in with Google.” We store your email address and the username you choose.
• Class accounts. Accounts for a whole class can be created with usernames only, so no student needs an email address. Schools that do not want student email addresses on the Service can use this option.

Signing up requires confirming that you are at least 13. We do not ask for or store a birth date.

What we store

• Your account: your username, your email address if you gave one, and your access level.
• Your progress: quiz scores, study progress, and app settings saved to your account.
• What you make: question sets, lessons, study sets, and other things you build and save.
• Classes: the classes you join, and the name your teacher gives you on the class roster.

Users cannot upload files to the Service. An image in a lesson is a link to a picture hosted somewhere else.

Many apps also keep progress and settings in your browser’s local storage, on your own device. When you are signed in, some of it is also saved to your account so it follows you to other devices.

Who can see what

• Other users see your username, never your email address.
• Your username and score can appear on an app’s leaderboard.
• When you ask to join a class, the teacher who owns that class sees your username and, if your account has one, your email address, so they can confirm who you are. Once you are in the class, that teacher can see your quiz scores, and your progress on study sets they made.

Live games

Live class games run on our own game servers. Players join with a code and type a name. The server sees that name and your answers while the game runs. Some servers keep short game logs, including player names, to help us fix problems.

Microphone

A few tools use your microphone, such as pronunciation practice and the classroom noise meter. Audio is handled in your browser. We never upload or store it.

Embedded videos and files

Some lessons and tools show YouTube videos or Google files (Slides, Docs, Sheets, and Drive files) chosen by a teacher. These load directly from YouTube or Google and stay there; we store only the link. YouTube’s and Google’s privacy policies apply to them.

Cookies and local storage

We use your browser’s local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your progress, theme, and settings. We do not use cookies for advertising or analytics.

Service providers

We rely on a small set of providers, each with its own privacy policy:

• Supabase: accounts, sign-in, and the database.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS): website hosting and account emails such as sign-up confirmation.
• Hostinger: the servers that run live games.
• Google: optional sign-in with Google.
• YouTube: embedded videos.
• Google Drive: files teachers choose to show in lessons.

Age requirement and children’s privacy

Miser Magister is for users who are at least 13 years old. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not register or use it.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has registered, contact us at misermagister@gmail.com and we will remove the account.

School use (FERPA)

Schools can use class accounts so that students need no email address. We use student information only to provide the educational Service. Where the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) applies, we act as a “school official” with a legitimate educational interest. We do not use student information for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not build profiles of students for any purpose other than education.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep your information while your account exists. To see, correct, or delete your information, or to delete your account, email us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above.
